The Townsend Hotel Adds New Management to Catering Team
BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – Sept. 9, 2015 – The Townsend Hotel, a AAA 4-Diamond, Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star and Travel + Leisure 500-rated luxury property known for its exceptional service and amenities, today announced the addition of two new managers to its catering sales team – Maria Finateri as corporate catering sales manager, and Annie Whalen as catering sales event service manager. The Townsend Hotel’s Rugby Grille Welcomes New Chef de Cuisine
Award-Winning Fine Dining Restaurant Adds Michigan Native Culinarian to Team
BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – August 25, 2015 – The Townsend Hotel, a AAA 4-Diamond, Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star and Travel + Leisure 500-rated luxury property known for its exceptional service and amenities, today announced the addition of Damian Yopek to its team in the role of Rugby Grille chef de cuisine. The Rugby Grille is the luxury property’s award-winning fine-dining restaurant. The announcement was made by Steven Kalczynski, The Townsend’s managing director.
As chef de cuisine, Yopek will be responsible for working closely with The Townsend Hotel’s executive chef on the Rugby Grille’s menu concepts and development, as well as ensuring consistent quality in the daily preparation of all menu items. BIRMINGHAM — If the only one shouting advertisement acclaim for your cooking is your smoke detector, don’t worry — the Townsend Hotel has you covered.
For the first time, the hotel’s famed Rugby Grille will open its kitchen doors to visitors for a special cooking instruction series. Participants will get the chance to learn tips of the cuisine trade from Rugby’s executive chef, Drew Sayes, who’s earned countless awards in the culinary industry. “Drew is always kind of big on giving back and promoting his knowledge to other people in regards to cooking,” said Townsend Hotel’s food and beverage director, Jared Chorney. “Some people are intimidated by cooking certain items, so (Sayes) offered to open up the kitchen for people to come in and learn some basic skills they can translate in their own home kitchen.” Chorney said the cooking class will be different in that students […]

06/02/2015 – The Townsend Hotel, located at 100 Townsend Street,
in Birmingham, was recently named one of the 500 best hotels in the
world by Travel + Leisure. The Townsend is the only Detroit-area
hotel on the magazine’s “T+L 500” list. The 500 distinguished
properties were chosen by a reader survey that evaluated
rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food and value.
