Chef de Cuisine
Christian Gray is the chef de cuisine at The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, Mich.
Gray works closely with the Chef at The Townsend Hotel's 4-star restaurant, The Rugby Grille, to create its dynamic menu based on the highest quality seasonal ingredients available. He also works to make certain the restaurant's team of talented chefs properly execute menu creations.
Gray describes his style of cooking as Contemporary American, rooted in French technique. He attributes much of his culinary inspiration to working alongside James Beard award-nominated, Chef Eric Aubriot, of Aubriot restaurant in Chicago.
Gray emphasizes the importance of utilizing local and sustainable products, crediting his time spent in Seattle to opening his eyes on how simple ingredients can be transformed into an intricate dish.
Gray joined The Townsend Hotel in August 2010.
Gray is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in Business Administration. He currently resides in Beverly Hills, Mich. with his wife and son.
