What time is check-in/check-out?

4:00PM/12:00PM

Based on availability, early check-in may be available.  To guarantee an early arrival, please confirm your room for the night before arrival.

Does the hotel have a fitness center?

Yes, available to guests 24/7

Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not permitted at Rugby Grille including the patio area

Can the Townsend accommodate bus parking?

Yes, we work with the City of Birmingham to purchase permits on your behalf to park tour buses on-site. The fee is $60 per bus, per day.

Does the Townsend have rooms with windows that open?

Yes, our rooms and suites feature windows that open.

Does the Townsend have any rooms with bathtubs?

Yes, all of our rooms and suites feature large marble bathrooms with deep-soaking tubs.

What is the cancellation policy?

With few exceptions, rooms may be cancelled without penalty before noon (12:00pm) the day prior to arrival.

Are pets welcomed at The Townsend?

Yes, The Townsend Hotel allows guests to stay with their dogs. The hotel does not allow cats, gerbils or ferrets. There is a $150.00 non-refundable pet deposit.

Does The Townsend have a swimming pool?

The Townsend Hotel does not have a swimming pool on site.  Ask our concierge for other local swimming pool options.

Are cribs and rollaways available?

Yes, rollaways are available at a fee of $20 per day and cribs are available without fee.

Is babysitting service available?

Babysitting can be arranged by the concierge. Requests should be made 48 hours in advance.

Can we bring our own AV into the Townsend Hotel?

Yes, if an outside vendor is used, the Hotel will provide a minimum of one technician to coordinate with the contractor and oversee, set-up, opration and breakdown.  Minimal fees may apply. 

Does the Townsend have meeting packages and follow the AMA and Pharm guidelines?

Yes, We understand the ethical needs and regulations of the medical community. The Townsend Hotel is an excellent location for health care professionals based upon the proximity to the regional hospitals in addition to their personal residences.  You may ask  your Townsend Sales representative for pricing.

Does the Townsend have shuttle transportation?

Yes and it can be arranged with our concierge with charges varying on the mode of transportation.  Transportation charges can be applied to your final hotel bill for both individual and group transportation needs.

Can you get a car into your meeting space?

The Townsend Hotel's Ballroom provides external access through the loading dock for the ingress and egress of standard production automobiles. To comply with State and Local Fire and Safety Ordinances and to meet your expectations there are conditions that must be adhered to when moving in and out motorized vehicles from the meeting facilities.

Are reservations required for the Rugby Grille?

Is there a dress code?

While we have no formal dress code and welcome guests in whatever attire they feel most comfortable, the majority of our guests are generally dressed in “smart casual” or “business casual” attire.

Can you accommodate guests with dietary restrictions, including vegetarians and those with specific food allergies or someone who might be on a special diet?

Our chefs will do their very best to accommodate specific requests regarding food allergies and other dietary restrictions. Feel free to call the restaurant in advance to inquire about your specific needs. Once in the restaurant, please let your server know exactly what your needs are as well, so that they can be clearly communicated with the kitchen staff.

Do you have a children’s menu?

Yes. Rugby Grille offers a children’s menu featuring a wide variety of child-friendly options.

What credit cards are accepted for payment?

American Express, MasterCard,Visa, Discover, Diner's Club, DinaCard and BC Card

How are Out-of-Town Gift Bags handled?

The front desk is able to store and hand-out gift bags for a fee of $2.00 per gift per room/suite.  Gifts can be delivered to your registered guests for a fee of $4.00 per gift per room/suite.  Let your Sales/Catering Manager know if you want deliveries.

Where can I park my vehicle during my stay?

The hotel offers valet parking services at a rate of $24.00 per night.  This includes in and out privileges. 

Does the hotel provide free internet?

Free internet is available in our 24 hour business center.  Fees will be assessed for in room wireless, or wired, internet.

Does the hotel offer laundry services?

Yes. Washing, drying and pressing services are available for a fee on property.  Dry cleaning is available and is provided by an outside vendor with overnight and same day service for a fee.

Are reservations necessary for Afternoon Tea?

Yes, reservations are necessary, a 24 hour inquiry is recommended. However, if able, we will accommodate same day requests.

Is tea served daily?

Yes, depending on availability. Our Tea director will be happy to offer all dates available or check a particular date for you. You may also be placed on a wait list if you prefer. 

Do you offer options for large events?

Yes, we specialize in everything from Bridal Teas, Charities, Business Meetings, Birthdays, Baby Showers, Bridesmaids, Bachelorette, Princess Teas, Daddy Daughter Teas,Themed Teas, Friends, Family, Fundraising, Tea Tastings, Tea Etiquette and so much more. We are happy to take the extra step.

Do you offer any special Tea events?

Yes, monthly. All of our special events are on our website or join or e-mail list with our Tea Director. We are always looking forward to working with charities and welcome partnerships. 

How much is afternoon tea?

Our Traditional Tea is $36.00 and our Deluxe Tea is $60.00 per person and is inclusive of service charge and tax. You can also work with our Tea Director who would be happy to assist in planning a special menu. 

Do you offer a children's menu?

Yes, we offer children 12 years old or younger a special menu at $25.00 per person. 

Is there a dress code?

Feel free to wear your favorite fashion, pumps, pearls, hats, and gloves are always welcome and in style. We have great photo backdrops. Otherwise, dress comfortably.
