IS SMOKING ALLOWED?
Smoking is not permitted in the hotel, in any guest rooms, or at the Rugby Grille, including the patio area. This smoking policy also prevents the use of e-cigarettes or vaping. A smoking fee will be assessed to guest rooms where any trace or smell of smoke is found.
WHERE CAN I PARK MY VEHICLE DURING MY STAY?
The hotel offers convenient valet parking services at a rate of $30.00 per night.
Daily parking is available as follows:
$10 for the first 2 Hours
$15 for up to 3 Hours
$20 for over 4 Hours
In and out privileges included for overnight parking only.
Electronic Vehicle Charging Stations: Two Tesla High Power Wall Connectors and one ClipperCreek Universal Charger. Charging available complimentary for overnight guests, Rugby Grille guests and event attendees (charges still apply for valet parking). Non guests of the hotel may use a charging station for a fee of $25.00.
DOES THE TOWNSEND HOTEL HAVE A SWIMMING POOL?
The Townsend Hotel does not have a swimming pool on site. Please ask our concierge for local swimming pool options.
DOES THE TOWNSEND HOTEL OFFER COMPLIMENTARY INTERNET?
High-Speed Internet is provided complimentary in all guest rooms.
DOES THE TOWNSEND HOTEL HAVE A FITNESS CENTER?
Yes, it is available to guests 24 hours a day.
CAN THE TOWNSEND HOTEL ACCOMMODATE BUS PARKING?
Yes, we work with the City of Birmingham to purchase permits on your behalf to park tour buses on-site. The fee is $75 per bus, per day.
WHERE CAN I GET A TOWNSEND HOTEL BED?
Please contact our hotel staff and we will be delighted to assist you with purchasing your very own Townsend Hotel bed.
WHAT TIME IS CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT?
Check-in begins at 4:00PM. Check-out is at 12:00PM. Based on availability, early check-in may be available. To guarantee an early arrival, please confirm your accommodation for the night prior to your arrival. Similarly, for late departures, reserving an additional night will guarantee access to your guest room until you depart. If you choose not to reserve, late check-outs may be available for a fee, based on availability.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
With few exceptions, rooms may be cancelled without penalty before 12 noon EST on the day prior to arrival. All large suites must be cancelled seven (7) days prior to arrival.
DOES THE HOTEL CHARGE AN AMENITY FEE?
Yes, The Townsend Hotel charges a $22.00 amenity fee per night in addition to the room rate. The Hotel Amenity Fee includes use of our Fitness and Business Center, coffee and tea in the lobby each morning, shoe shine services, bike rentals, daily turndown service, daily newspapers through the Press Reader app and bottled water.
ARE PETS WELCOME?
Yes, The Townsend Hotel welcomes dogs. The hotel does not allow cats, gerbils or ferrets. There is a $159.00 non-refundable pet deposit and a $5.30 daily cleaning fee. Please view our full Pet Policy here.
ARE ROLLAWAYS AND CRIBS AVAILABLE?
Yes, rollaways are available at a fee of $20 per day and cribs are available complimentary upon request.
HOW MANY GUESTS MAY SLEEP IN EACH ROOM?
The maximum amount of guests per room is five (5). Please call the hotel front desk for additional questions or concerns.
DOES THE TOWNSEND HOTEL HAVE ROOMS WITH WINDOWS THAT OPEN?
Yes, our rooms and suites feature windows that open.
DO ANY OF YOUR ROOMS HAVE SOFAS THAT PULL OUT?
No, none of our sofas pull out into beds. However, rollaway beds are available for most room categories.
CAN THE TOWNSEND HOTEL ASSIST WITH DISTRIBUTING GIFT BAGS?
Absolutely! The front desk is able to store and hand-out gift bags for a fee of $2.00 per gift per room/suite. Gifts can be delivered to your registered guest for a fee of $4.00 per gift per room/suite. Please notify your Sales or Catering Manager should you have a gift bag request.
DOES THE HOTEL OFFER LAUNDRY SERVICES?
Yes. Washing, drying and pressing services are available for a fee on property. Dry cleaning is available and is provided by an outside vendor with overnight and same day service. Fees may vary.
ARE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE RUGBY GRILLE?
Reservations are recommended. Please call 248-642-5999 or confirm through Open Table.
IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
While we have no formal dress code and welcome guests in whatever attire they feel most comfortable, the majority of our guests are generally dressed in “smart casual” or “business casual” attire.
CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE GUESTS WITH DIETARY RESTRICTIONS, INCLUDING VEGETARIANS AND THOSE WITH SPECIFIC FOOD ALLERGIES OR SOMEONE WHO MAY BE ON A SPECIAL DIET?
Our chefs will do their very best to accommodate specific requests regarding food allergies and other dietary restrictions. Feel free to call the restaurant in advance to notify of our Rugby Grille team of your specific dietary restrictions.
DOES THE RESTAURANT HAVE A CHILDREN’S MENU?
Yes, we do offer a children’s menu featuring a wide variety of child-friendly options.
ARE RESERVATIONS NECESSARY FOR AFTERNOON TEA?
Yes, reservations are necessary. A 24-hour advance inquiry is recommended. However, if able, we will accommodate same-day requests.
DO YOU OFFER OPTIONS FOR LARGE EVENTS?
Yes, we specialize in everything from Bridal Teas, Charities, Business Meetings, Birthday Celebrations, Baby Showers, Bridesmaids and Bachelorette Teas, Princess Teas, Daddy Daughter Teas, Themed Teas, Friends, Family, Fundraising, Tea Tastings, Tea Etiquette and so much more! We are happy to take the extra step.
DO YOU OFFER ANY SPECIAL AFTERNOON TEA EVENTS?
Yes, monthly and seasonally. All of our special events are on our website or join our E-mail list with our Tea Director for information on new upcoming events! We always look forward to working with charities and welcome partnerships.
IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
Since every Afternoon Tea is a special occasion, we recommend and prefer dresses, skirts, blouses, dress sweaters and dress slacks for ladies while gentlemen are suggested to wear "smart casual" with no denim or shorts. Children should be at their best. We have great photo backdrops and welcome style!
DO YOU OFFER A CHILDREN’S TEA MENU?
Yes, for children 12 years of age and younger we will offer a special menu.
MEETINGS & EVENTS
CAN YOU PUT A CAR INTO YOUR MEETING SPACE?
The Townsend Hotel's Ballroom provides external access through the loading dock for the ingress and egress of standard production automobiles. To comply with State and Local Fire and Safety Ordinances and to meet your expectations there are conditions that must be adhered to when moving in and out motorized vehicles from the meeting facilities.
CAN WE BRING OUR OWN AV INTO THE HOTEL?
Yes, if an outside vendor is used, the hotel will provide a minimum of one technician to coordinate with the contractor and oversee set-up and breakdown. Fees may apply.
DOES THE HOTEL HAVE MEETING PACKAGES AND FOLLOW THE AMA AND PHARMA GUIDELINES?
Yes, we understand the ethical needs and regulations of the medical community. The Townsend Hotel is an excellent location for health care professionals based upon the proximity to the regional hospitals in addition to their personal residences.
